The Scoop On Comcast Cable Deals For New Customers
Monday, November 15th, 2010Most likely you’ve heard of Comcast the cable service supplier company. Their services include HDTV with movies and also music videos on demand. Besides this, they offer Internet service that is much faster than DSL, plus unlimited phone service. For new customers, there are always special Comcast cable deals.
Comcast’s angle is that the way to build their business is to keep taking on more customers. This is the reason why they always have special offers for new customers. Be wise to their marketing ploy – they always claim it’s a limited offer that will run out on a certain date – but in reality, as soon as one offer expires they’ll start another one. You don’t have to rush to sign up. Who knows? The next offer may be even better than this one.
You don’t even have to be a “real” new customer to take advantage of the Comcast new customers special offer. If you’re changing addresses, you can sign on to Comcast again, using the name of your spouse for example. Although it’s not a good reason to move, at least it’s a fringe benefit of moving.
The special offers do vary slightly, but not much. You only get the cash back and lower rates if you sign up for all three services, which Comcast calls their “triple play”. Of course, they do this because they want you to get you to buy more than you would otherwise. Then once you’re on, they expect you’ll just keep on paying out of habit. So if you really only want the phone and Internet service, you might think twice about signing up for the special deal. In the long run, it’ll cost you more.
Just like any other special offer, there is the fine print. It’s true you get cash back, plus lower rates for the first couple of months. But although they say “free equipment,” it turns out that doesn’t include the converter or Cable Card that may be needed for certain cable services. The prices shown also don’t show tax, or the activation fee for phone service that is sometimes required.
Be wise to the reality that for Comcast to make money, they have to keep their old customers as well as make new ones. This means that even returning customers can probably get special deals if they’ll only bargain. So next time your service contract expires, you should call Comcast and say that you’re going to change to another company. Almost certainly, they will offer you a deal almost as good as the Comcast cable deals for new customers.
